ARC: Doom Tabletop RPG funds in 23 minutes, unlocks all content stretch goals in 2 hours

ARC, a tabletop RPG by publisher Exalted Funeral and Southeast Asian designer, illustrator and creator momatoes, achieved rapid success on its Kickstarter launch on June 1.

Within 23 minutes, the RPG fulfilled its $7,000 funding goal, with all three content stretch goals for digital adventures swiftly following suit. The fourth and currently final stretch goal, which increases the pay of momatoes as well as the production and stretch goal team members, was completed in 13 hours, raising over $25,000 along the way.

Supporters have universally acclaimed ARC’s darkly beautiful aesthetics, unique blend of real-time and in-story mechanics, and even its compelling video trailer.

ARC’s Kickstarter rewards include discounted and regular-priced PDFs ($10 and $20), softcover print ($30), regular hardcover ($50) as well as the Kickstarter-exclusive special hardcover ($60), by far the most popular tier. A single-copy Bimited Edition tier worth $500 was immediately snapped up within an hour of the launch. All reward tiers worth $20 and above automatically donate community copies for ARC’s public release. The digital rewards, including the three unlocked adventures, are expected to be fulfilled September 2021, with print copies to be delivered by October 2021.

To date, ARC has raised US$ 41,180, or nearly 6x its base goal, with the help of 972 backers. With 24 days still left in its campaign, this incredible funding is sure to continue its momentum over the following weeks. The team expresses their heartfelt appreciation for the strong love and support that ARC has received. ##

Shao Han, a most Curious Chimera, usually designs games with themes that revolve around issues familiar to many Southeast Asians: climate issues, postcolonial tensions, power relations, proxy wars, and imperialist hierarchies, as well as minor gods, ghost stories, and the little allowances we make for the supernatural in everyday life. Currently, in addition to contract work for other designers and companies, including Paizo Inc., Pelgrane Press, and Sandy Pug Games, Shao Han is creating Tales of Saintrest, a fantasy TRPG inspired by Southeast Asian histories of warfare, god-king cults, and ecological collapse.

What will the stretch goal team be making?

At $9,000 we unlocked an adventure by Shao Han, where heroes rise from death itself and confront memory, kinship, and an impending doom brought forth by a necromancer. Danielle Florendo will bring this module to life with her art.

At $12,000 we unlocked an adventure by BJ Recio, where gold is a light-like, divine conduit that attunes machines with gods — and is also coveted by an apocalyptic invading force. Nina Martinez will illustrate this module.

At $15,000 we unlocked an adventure by Pam Punzalan, set in a world where memories are power, godsblood run through certain families,  and a strange miasma either turns people into ravenous monsters…or awakens them. This module will be illustrated by Cy Vendivil.

At $52,500 we unlocked Morgdalaine’s help to develop beautiful Roll20 tools, including a gorgeous, feature-rich character sheet to help anyone play or run ARC online.

At $55,000 the amazing Saker Tarsos is now able to develop a Discord bot with a built-in Doomsday Clock, the most ominous random tables and generators, and even integration with Google Sheets to save and retrieve character sheet data for full-feature dice rolls.

At $60,000 ARC is now able to commission a fantastic adventure from Caro Asercion! A story where weaver-musicians play the loom of history while a precarious balance hangs on the line… illustrated by Aldy Aguirre who’ll transform their words to art.

Lastly, if unlocked, at $70,000 ARC will do the unthinkable and add one hundred softcover community copies to the pool.
